This position is located at River Cove Community Center in support of the Bingo Operation; which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department aboard Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. These shifts will be primarily evenings and include Sunday afternoons.

Duties

Help

Will perform duties as such short order grill cook and/or assist the cook in the preparation of lunch or dinner meals.

Performs a limited variety of tasks, such as grilling foods to order, i.e., hamburgers, pancakes, bacon, eggs, etc.

Selects food items to be services and ensures their freshness.

Takes direct customer orders or ticket orders from waitresses ensuring items are cooked to order, served using authorized portion controls and temperature and turning to avoid burning.

Assists/or prepares simple items such as sandwiches, soups, salads.

Measures and weighs ingredients according to simple recipes or as directed.

Places cooked food on serving dishes, steam or food carts. Ensures group orders are served simultaneously. Keeps grills, stoves, refrigerators and working areas in a neat and clean manner in accordance with safety and sanitation regulations.

Notifies supervisors of items needed in order to maintain stock.

May be required to assist in taking inventory.

May be required to collect money, operate a cash register and prepare necessary documentation for cash fund accountability.

May be required to occasionally perform other duties within the facility.

  • Must reside within a 50 mile radius of 32212 at time of applying.
  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
  • Must have current CPR/First Aide certification or be willing to obtain within 90 days of employment.

  • You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
  • Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate possess the following:

Must possess the ability to read and follow simple recipes and combine ingredients for cooked dishes.

Must have the ability to follow oral or written instructions.

Must be able to obtain a health card and pass the food handler's sanitation course.

Ability to operate food preparation appliances, i.e., food slicer, blender, grill, etc. is preferred.

The ability to pass the Food Sanitation Class and obtain a Health Card.

Additional information

Candidates that apply between June 12, 2023, and June 19, 2023, will be considered in the first round of considerations. Those qualified candidates will be referred to the hiring manager the week of June 19, 2023, for possible interviews.

Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee's eligibility to work in the United States. Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.
