U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is a component within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security comprised of approximately 19,000 Federal employees and contractors working in approximately 250 Headquarters and field offices around the world. We are responsible for the administration of immigration and naturalization adjudication functions and establishing immigration services policies and priorities.
The Office of Information and Technology (OIT) provides the strategic vision necessary to enable USCIS to deliver secure immigration products and services. OIT leads USCIS in the design, development, and deployment of IT services and solutions that will continue to transform the nation's immigration system.
Major Duties:
The Chief Technology Officer carries out the following duties:
Defines, coordinates, and establishes technology policies, plans and programs. He/she applies an extensive knowledge of cutting-edge technologies and techniques to advance mission needs.
Oversees technological aspects of software, infrastructure, security, data systems, and communications.
Participates in top level USCIS, DHS, and intergovernmental meetings and exercises and provides expert, authoritative advice and guidance on all technical aspects of system development, infrastructure, and communications.
Participates in planning and budget efforts for all IT programs and projects and ensures inclusion of appropriate technology in strategic plans and budgets.
Acts as a consultant to the CIO on technical issues and proposes technical solutions to agency problems.

Qualifications
One year of experience in the federal service at the GS-15 level.
Experience must demonstrate the ability to lead, design, and secure IT services, programs, and applications to advance agency-level activities and deliver solutions to stakeholders and business customers. (Must be reflected in resume)
