Develops, modifies, and supports Human Resources automation.
Consults with customers to develop and refine functional requirements and translates functional requirements into design specifications.
Serves as technical liaison for and assists journey level specialists in the design and integration of policies, systems procedures, databases, software and hardware.
Provides formal and/or informal instruction to users regarding complex systems issues, features and functionality, and develops user manuals or instructions for assigned applications
Analyzes data and produces reports to support management operational decisions and planning.

TO BE ELIGIBLE: Applicants must meet Post-Secondary Direct Hire Authority status via one of the following:
Must be awarded a degree by an institution of higher education from a public or non-profit institution not more than two years before the date of appointment OR
expect to be awarded a degree by a public or non-profit institution of higher learning by September 30, 2023 OR
completed a period obligated service in a unformed service of more than four years and was awarded a degree by an institution of higher education from a public or other non-profit institution not more than four years before the date of appointment.

GS-07 Specialized experience is defined as applying a basic knowledge of information management and technology principles, concepts and methods to perform routine information management and technology work to include: providing routine advice and guidance to customers regarding technology systems, applications and/or services; assisting higher level specialists with information management and technology projects.
GS-09 Specialized experience is defined as assisting in the design, development or maintenance of business automation tools; implementing modifications or improvements to information systems; or applying software design principles and information management concepts to enhance business operations.

Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. OR
Successful completion of all of the requirements for a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and claim eligibility for superior academic achievement based on one of the following: a grade point average of a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, class standing in the upper third of my graduating class or major subdivision, or membership in a national scholastic honor society. THE DUTY LOCATION OF THIS POSITION IS INDIANAPOLIS, IN, IT IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION. Telework availability in the local, Indianapolis, IN area will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination.

This position will be covered by formal training under the DFAS Career Acclimation Program (DCAP). The purpose of this program is to develop well-qualified, well-trained, high potential employees for future positions within DFAS. Promotion is conditional based on performance, successful completion of training, and availability of higher graded work. Participants who do not successfully complete the program may be separated.
Pay for first time hires to the Federal Government will typically be set at step 1 salary range for their respective grade level.
