Help
  • Serves as an Instructor in the CYS Instructional Program. Provides individual and/or group lessons to participants. Offers less structured activities for parents/children.
  • Coordinates work schedules with Instructional Program Specialist. Develops individual and group lesson plans. Tracks participant's accomplishments, long and short term goals, effort, and evaluations as appropriate for age and type of instruction.
  • Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of program participants. Observes and evaluates participants developmental level and records progress.
  • Continually reviews instructional sessions and plans for appropriateness. Observes program participants for signs that may indicate illness, abuse or neglect and reports as directed.
  • Plans and conducts special events for parents designed to promote the instructional program while encouraging parents to become involved.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/physical/background requirements for this position.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • A one year probationary period may be required (either initially or upon conversion, if applicable).
  • Successful completion of annual training requirements within the prescribed time frame and demonstrated on the job competence is required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) Check.
  • Work schedule may be irregular. The incumbent may be required to work, nights, weekends, holidays and/or special events.
  • Must be willing to accept part-time employment.
  • An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.

Qualifications

1. Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
2. Be able to communicate in English (both written and verbal).
3. Be 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
4. Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop and stand on a routine basis. Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors.
5. Possess and maintain health and freedom from communicable disease.
6. Demonstrated skill/evidence of competence in instructional area of Dance.

Preferred are those candidates who possess a Professional Certificates/Credentials; or Associates Degree or higher with 15 semester hours of college credit in the area of instruction.

Allowances, Incentives and PCS Costs:
  • Allowances, differentials, or incentives will not be paid.
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
  • Night differential has been authorized by the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Bargaining NF positions and will be paid at the rate of basic pay plus an additional 10 percent of that rate for all regular scheduled work between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. (including periods of leave and holidays).
  • The Employer will pay Sunday premium pay to regular pay band employees at the rate of 25% of the employee's basic rate of pay for all hours of a non-overtime tour of duty when any part of the scheduled tour is performed on Sunday (including periods of leave and holidays).
Other:
The Fort Drum CYS Division now offers a childcare discount for CYS employees; 50% discount for first child and 15% for each child after. As an added employee incentive, the Department of Defense (DoD) granted approval to extend temporary limited commissary privileges (excluding the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products) to CYS employees. This temporary approval expires 05 Nov 2023.)

  • Salary depends on actual hours worked. Hourly rate for leave and pay will be $18.12 to $23.56 per hour.
