As an IT Specialist (INTERNET), you will:

  • Serve as the principle expert and lead technologist for the planning, development and coordination of all virtual and cloud-based technologies (VMware, Microsoft Off ice365 and Azure) e.g. installation and configuration of new environments or implementation of new patches, upgrades, and releases; consult with OIG colleagues in defining requirements and identifying integration issues; manage/perform installation, customization, testing, and implementation of IT solutions in the environment; and work with vendor engineers to correct problems and enhance performance.
  • Provide authoritative advice to management and other technical specialists in areas such as disaster recovery, capacity planning, applications development, hardware strategy, and operating systems security as it relates to web and cloud-based solutions.
  • Lead and execute the deployment of virtual and cloud-based technologies releases into Testing, Staging, and Production Environments (develops these environments where missing).
  • Oversee technical management of virtual and cloud-based environments, content, applications, features, and capabilities, as well as the operation of the hardware and soft ware platforms on which they run.
  • Formulate HUD OIG virtual and cloud-based strategy based on an organization's needs, mission, and vision; and demonstrate leadership to accomplish the goals.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes performing a full range of advanced information technology activities such as:

  • Experience in architecting and managing Azure, O365, Hyper-V and VMWare for an entire organization, including implementation and oversite of these systems; AND
  • Serving as a Systems Engineer migrating technologies to Azure; Engineer design, implement, and oversee security and business technologies for the organization. Information technology architects ensure efficiency and efficacy by communicating with colleagues and team members about soft ware, network, and database architectures, as appropriate. AND
  • Identifying and controlling STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) hardening of hardware and soft ware to guard against security threats; AND
  • Experience with configuration of ATO (Authorization to Operate) controls in Azure, O365; AND
  • Developing technical standards and procedures for multi-factor authentication throughout the organization.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
