Summary

As a Lead Equipment Specialist, you will be support for the Maintenance Control Center (MCC) customers, vendors and other Fleet personnel on a diverse range of technical, administrative and analytical functions relating to MCC program functions and operations.

Location of position: Federal Acquisition Service, Office of Motor Vehicle Management, duty station to be determined. This is a remote position. 

We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

  • Ensures that FAS Strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to team and  integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, tasks, work, products and services.
  • Coaches the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques and strategies, provides advice on work methods, practices and procedures, and assists the team members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
  • Trains or arranges for the training of team members in an effort to build the team and work in terms of accomplishing tasks or projects.
  • Serves as coach, facilitator and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building
    activities among team members.
  • Receives calls within the Automated Call Directory (ACD) and serves as a "Goodwill Ambassador" and principal point of contact to GSA fleet customers and contractors throughout the country. Provides quality, timely, customer assistance utilizing automated systems to review and analyze data.

The GS-12 salary range starts at $82,830.00 per year.  

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is experience in working as a skilled auto mechanic, auto repair part sales, service/tech writer or in other automotive fields such as: reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements to manufacture automotive parts; analyzing automotive equipment and forecasting spare part requirements; reading and interpreting engineering change orders related to the automotive industry; analyzing or supervising automotive maintenance, repair or production operations.

How you will be evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

You will be scored on the questions you answer during the application process, which will measure your possession of the following competencies or knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Your responses to these questions must be supported by your resume or your score may be lowered.  

  • Knowledge of the Fleet Management organization, its nationwide locations and mission nationwide to support customers, contractors and other Fleet Management personnel located throughout the country.
  • Knowledge and ability required to successfully lead and mentor other employees and to positively champion the team in effectively accomplishing assigned projects, representing them to both GSA and customer management.

  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness and efficiency of Maintenance Control Center (MCC) operations based on analysis of issues identified through the nationwide program.
  • Independently plans, organizes, and carries out the steps required to complete and resolve a variety of recurring work assignments, problems, and issues, informing or consulting with the manager on unusual or controversial issues as required.
  • Ability to communicate with vendors, analyze and correct situations with customers while maintaining professionalism and courteous behavior.  The ability to reach logical conclusions using data analysis with automated systems in a time manner.
