The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC).
Typical work assignments include:
Enhancing the security and resilience of critical infrastructure through the planning and conducting of exercise programs in accordance with the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
Planning and executing discussion and operations-based stakeholder exercises, including seminars; workshops; games; drills; and tabletop, functional, and full-scale exercises.
Providing assistance in guiding exercise design and delivery, including control or facilitation of routine exercises.
Participating in cybersecurity partnerships with federal, SLTT, private sector, and international partners.
Serving as a technical advisor to the Regional Sector Outreach Coordinator on program effectiveness, efficiency, policy, and direction.
This position is located in the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA),
Integrated Operations Division (IOD).

Qualifications
You qualify for the GS-09/11/12 grade level if you possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:

GS-09 A. Experience: At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level performing the following duties:
Assisting in the planning and conducting of cybersecurity exercises;
Recognizing emerging security issues, risks, and vulnerabilities; and
Utilizing computer applications to analyze and communicate information.
OR
B. Substitution of Education for Experience: You may substitute a Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or have successfully completed at least two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading toward such a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
C. Combining Education and Experience: Appropriate combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience also may be used to meet the total qualification requirements for the GS-09 grade level.
GS-11 A. Experience: At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level performing the following duties:
Serving as technical authority in the planning and conducting of cybersecurity exercises;
Developing and delivering technical training materials to support the needs of system owners and operators; and
Interpreting cybersecurity and infrastructure security concepts, principles.
OR
B. Substitution of Education for Experience: You may substitute a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
OR
C. Combining Education and Experience: Appropriate combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience described in A and B above, that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement.
GS-12 Experience: At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level performing the following duties:
Serving as technical advisor in designing, developing, and conducting cybersecurity exercises;
Keeping abreast of new and emerging information technology (IT) and cybersecurity technologies; and
Ensuring training/exercises meet established goals and objectives.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
