Duties

Help
  • Research and apply mathematical, statistical and text analyses using software and in coordination with other analysts, through the use of CRISP-DM/Agile methods.
  • Effectively communicate analytical methods and results to teammates and prepare technical documentation around defensible, repeatable, and impactful statistical results.
  • Assist project teams by translating requirements into useful mathematical, statistical, or text analyses that contribute value to the organization?s mission.
  • Assist with preparation of proposals by outlining the hypothesis, requirements, and potential impact of conducting the analysis.
  • Provide data preparation for statistical analysis and prepare final tabulations, tables, charts, or graphs for presentations, dashboards, and other DAT products.
  • Effectively work in teams to complete analytical projects.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

A. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.or

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement and minimum qualifications, you must meet the specialized experience described below.

Specialized Experience:

GS-11: A. Specialized Experience:
Applicant must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the GS-09 level in federal service or equivalent. Specialized experience includes: Applying mathematical, statistical, or text analysis using software packages, effective communication of analysis results, and experience with translating requirements into useful mathematical, statistical, or text analyses that contribute value to the organization's mission.
OR
B. Education:
Master's Degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related.
OR
C. Combination of education and experience:
The percentage of the education plus the percentage of the required experience equal 100 percent. If you qualify by a combination, your experience must be detailed in your resume and transcripts are required.

GS-12 Specialized Experience: Applicant must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the GS-11 level in federal service or equivalent. Specialized experience includes: Applying mathematical, statistical, or text analysis using software packages, effective communication of analysis results, experience translating requirements into useful mathematical, statistical, or text analyses that contribute value to the organization's mission, and independently completing complex projects of an urgent nature with little/no supervision.

GS-13 Specialized Experience: Applicant must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the GS-12 level in federal service or equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as experience working in an independent oversight function across multiple components within an agency applying statistical and mathematical modeling techniques to studies, investigations, or audits to improve the impact of results.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.

Only experience and/or education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GS-12 or GS-13 grade levels.

Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specialized in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
