The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania is accepting applications to fill three Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) positions in the Criminal Division. Offices are located in Scranton, Harrisburg and Williamsport Pennsylvania. Therefore, please state your location preference in your cover letter.
AUSAs in the Criminal Division have the opportunity to represent the interests of the United States in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in a wide variety of complex cases involving drug trafficking, money laundering, firearms and other violent offenses, cyber-crimes, public corruption, terrorism, financial fraud, crimes against children, human trafficking, and environmental crimes, among others.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
All initial attorney positions to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month (temporary) basis. Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
These positions may be extended or made permanent without further competition.

Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $69,107 to $183,400 which includes 6.50% to 18.59% locality pay based on the duty station of the position.
