About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Duties

Help
  • Conduct tests on transformers to determine overload conditions, balance, and contamination.
  • Install emergency hook-ups to industrial electrical equipment to restore power.
  • Operate forklift up to 15,000 pounds to complete assignments.
  • Utilize hand tools for electrical work such as wire pulling, rigid conduit and metal working tools.
  • Verify spot checks are completed to ensure compliance with instructions and applicable electrical codes.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, circuits, and controls to perform required repairs.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
  • May be required to travel (TDY) 10% of the time for business purposes.
  • Position may require lifting weights up to 100 pounds.
  • Position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Journeyman State Electrical License REQUIRED. (Note: MUST attach with your application a copy of your current Journeyman State Electrical License or you will be screened out.)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Subject to call 24 hours a day.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator's driver's license (15,000 pounds) within 6 months of being in position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Personnel Security Clearance (NACI).
  • Must wear and utilize protective clothing, personal protective equipment (PPE), and protective devices provided by employer.
  • Position may be converted to permanent without further competition.
  • Temporary promotion may be made or extended up to a maximum of five years.
  • Temporary reassignment may be made or extended at management discretion.
  • Temporary appointment may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Facilities Electrician Leader without more than normal supervision. . I have the ability to perform the common Facilities Electrician Leader tasks including utilizing references such as blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and work orders to install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, circuits, and equipment. I can perform preventative maintenance; and repair and replace worn or defective parts. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical requirements: The work requires the employee to walk, stand, bend, kneel, climb, stoop, and work in close quarters and cramped positions. The employee will be required to work from ladders, poles, scaffolds, platforms, and buckets. May be required to occasionally lift weights up to 100 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: The employee is required to work both inside and outside and is subject to extremes in weather conditions and temperatures. There is considerable exposure to dust, fumes, and chemical agents such as PCB. There is the possibility of serious injury or death from contact with high voltage and the employee is subject to the possibility of burns, falls, cuts, bruises, and strains during the course of the work. May be required to work at heights in excess of 100 feet and use appropriate safety equipment such as scaffolds, safety belts, and equipment guards. Will wear and utilize other protective equipment, clothing, and devices as appropriate.

Education

Journeyman State Electrical License required. (Note: MUST attach with your application a copy of your current Journeyman State Electrical License or you will be screened out.)
