Duties

Help
  • In this position you will perform duties to include but not limited to the following:
  • Acts as technical expert, consultant, advisor, and project team lead in the coordination and collaboration with other leaders to solve institutional and operational problems, identify data positions, data roles, and data training.
  • Performs a critical role in the development of a competency model workforce inventory and develops training guidance.
  • As project lead or member of a study team, plans and conducts relevant research, and analytical studies of Army problems to support critical operational problems and/or decisions.
  • Directs and coordinates specific data mining, analysis, advanced modeling, development of mathematical algorithms, and computer program design activities.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set, and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

1515 Operations Research Series, Basic Education Requirement:
Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree in operations research or successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 hours must be in calculus.

1550 Computer Science Series, Basic Education Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

1560 Data Science Series: Basic Education Requirement:
  1. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

    -or-

  2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

In addition to meeting the basic education requirement above, you must also meet the specialized experience requirements below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, coordinating, executing studies and utilizing advanced data analysis techniques in order to develop analytic solutions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

Education
