  • Performs specialized assembly of microwave components, subassemblies, and instruments including soldering and epoxying of miniaturized discretes, wire and ribbon bonding, pull testing, eutectic die bonding, vacuum bagging, and harnessing.
  • Implements system for scheduling and prioritizing work requests from all branch supported projects.
  • Supports design reviews and provides inputs/feedback to enable or increase likelihood of success.
  • Establishes, documents, and maintains current assembly processes.
  • Advances capabilities of branch by researching, developing, or testing new processes.
  • Provides feedback and recommendations to project and branch management.
  • Maintains facilities including multiple ESD Class 0 work protected areas, assembly labs, and assembly equipment and tools.
  • Serves at the division level as a technician coordinator that is responsible for leading and directing civil servant and contractor technicians across the division.
  • Assists in implementing new tools at the division level to improve scheduling and work request intakes for technician efforts.
  • Communicates directly with technicians, collects data, and reports back to division management.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service:

  • Operating, maintaining, and testing microwave assembly equipment and facilities;
  • Assembling, modifying, and repairing microwave components, systems, and/or instruments; and
  • Performing wire-bonding on microwave components and verifying with pull-testing.
