Duties

Help
  • Assists skilled trades or craftsmen by bringing or holding tools, materials and equipment. Moves, lifts, carries, inventories, and stacks items.
  • Prepares surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, and sandblasting. Mixes paint and applies by brush or spray methods.
  • Uses power tools, chain saw, brush saw, and jackhammer. Assists in the operation and maintenance of gates, hoists, pumps, generators and a variety of other mechanical items.
  • Cleans and makes minor repairs on tools, engines, and plumbing.
  • Performs general maintenance, cleaning of grounds and janitorial duties. Removes and installs fencing.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be willing to work a temporary position.
  • This position requires a valid, state-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
  • Position requires a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Incumbent must lift objects up to and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds. Is required to stand, stoop, bend, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Strenuous effort is frequently required.
  • Work is performed outside in extremes of temperatures and weather conditions. Inside working areas may be noisy, dusty and drafty.
  • Incumbent is required to wear a Corps of Engineers uniform.

Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do the work of a Laborer~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Laborer duties to include: the ability to maintain the various public use facilities such as general roads, trails, picnic and parking areas, restrooms, offices, and garages. The ability to repair fences, assist in mixing concrete by hand or machine and spread, roll, and compact material with appropriate tools. The ability to maintain grounds and buildings, to include cleaning, scraping and chipping paint, minor repairs and maintenance activities.
