Duties

Help
  • You will work directly with Engineers, Technicians, Department of Defense (DOD) Contractors and Customers to assemble and disassemble Munitions, Weapon Systems and utilize Weapon Assembly Manuals.
  • You will analyze technical drawings and specifications sheets in relation to the Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation of current and future weapons of the Department of the Navy.
  • You will prepare and assemble test items such as installation of High Bandwidth Compact Telemetry units, Flight Termination Systems and reprogramming weapon systems using the Common Munitions Bit Reprograming Equipment.
  • You will Support and transport missiles, rockets, and other munitions to the flight line for current Research, Development, test and evaluation.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

DT-02: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or DT-01 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Utilizing mechanical background in order to perform the maintenance and testing required on various weapons;
2) Working with Engineers, Technicians, Contractors and Customers to assemble and disassemble Munitions and Weapon Systems, utilizing Weapon Assembly Manuals (WAM), as well as analyzing technical drawings and specifications sheets; and
3) Recording and reporting production data, provide numeric analysis, Conduct Mass Properties and prepare Mass Properties data to customer and engineers as requested.

DT-03: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the GS-05/08 grade level or DT-02 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Working with Engineers, Technicians, Contractors and Customers to assemble and disassemble Munitions and Weapon Systems, utilizing Weapon Assembly Manuals (WAM), as well as analyzing technical drawings and specifications sheets in relation to the Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) of current and future weapons;
2) Preparing test items and assembling test items for subsequent range or customer specific testing requirements, such as installation of High Bandwidth Compact Telemetry units (HCTM), Flight Termination Systems (FTS) and reprogramming weapon systems using the Common Munitions Bit Reprograming Equipment (CMBRE);
3) Making recommendations for the revision of technical procedures, publications, and Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) as needed and submit requests to the appropriate personnel as required; and
4) assisting in training co-workers in production, safety and environmental compliance methods and procedures, including the development Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and the development of training programs.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

The following education may be substituted for experience:

For DT-02 level: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as those shown above for GS-3 (or equivalent). At least 6 of the 24 semester hours must have been in drafting if the position has been designated by a drafting area of specialization.

For DT-03 level: Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree, that is directly related to the position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
