Help

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as a multimedia producer ensuring high production quality before live and recorded productions, assembling show elements before air, serving as a studio producer and completing logs shortly after a program airs.
  • Selects, edits, adapts and uploads Indonesian Service news, correspondent reports, backgrounders, features, photographs, graphics, and audio/video elements onto the Indonesian Service website, social media sites, and the affiliate portal (USAGM Direct).
  • Shoots and/or records and edits original content. Assembles, coordinates, and directs the resources necessary to produce quality content for multimedia applications.
  • Designs, conceptualizes, creates and produces original stories for use in radio, TV and/or digital, and social media.

Qualifications

Screen out factor: Applicants must have fluency in both English and Indonesian languages that enables them to speak, read, write, report, and translate in both languages. This language screen out factor MUST be listed in your resume to receive consideration.

Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-09 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sectors. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, the following specialized experience is required:

  • Knowledge and experience of journalistic work generating quality coverage of stories, events, and interviews.
  • Shooting photos and videos, recording audio, editing audio and video for use on digital and social media, radio, and/or TV.
  • Preparing scripts and developing graphics for use on multimedia platforms.
  • Knowledge of Indonesia, its history, economics, culture, socio-political development, as well as its media landscape and trends.

Education

If using education as a substitution for experience applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education with major study in journalism, communications, history, economics, political science, international relations or other fields related to the position leading to such a degree; OR an LL.M., if related; OR Have a combination of education and experience. Applicants must provide a copy of their transcript when using or combining education with experience.
