Duties

Help

This position is located at the Arizona Training Command in Camp Navajo Bellemont, Arizona. This position is comparable to a directorate level, command position and directs complex GTC operations thru subordinate supervisors. The GTC may also support several tenant units, ARNG support facilities, and other non-ARNG activities to include other Federal and State agencies. Management and executive knowledge and ability are the paramount qualification requirements.

  • ARIZONA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Army National Guard, in a military organization supported by the Arizona Training Command.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.

Qualifications

Military Grades: 2LT/O1 - MAJ/O4 or WO1/W1 - CW5/W5

Compatible Military Assignments: Possess an Army Branch or MOS

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various resources; Must have knowledge of the organization and its mission and utilized the organizational staff procedures. Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics):

1. Ability to manage all aspects of the GTC operations in order to provide 24 hour operational readiness in support of national defense and state/territory determined initiatives and missions.

2. Skill to directly be responsible for the management of a variety of Federal and State funds to support the GTC operations in accordance with current laws, regulations, and policy.

3. Ability to communicate and perform complex coordination, inside and outside the training center, with National Guard Bureau (NGB) personnel, the commands of other MACOMs, other DoD agencies, heads of federal agencies and states on matters pertaining to funds usage, supply, and training support activities at the training center.

4. Skill to exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities.

5. Ability to ensure the training center is fully operational, on short notice (less than 24 hours), to support troops and units which are trained, certified, and immediately deployed to the war fight.
