Summary

About the Position: Performs a variety of administrative, clerical, and office automation work in support of a dam and lake project. The position requires extensive knowledge of a variety of office administration and clerical operations, procedures, regulations, etc.

Management may select at either the GS-03, GS-04 or the GS-05 grade level. Full performance is grade GS-05.

  • Provides administrative support preparing reports and other documents utilizing various software and automated information systems to electronically retrieve, create, review, format, transmit, finalize, print and save documents and reports.
  • Coordinates information and compiles for specific reports such as awards, budget execution, program management, quality management, training status and wide variety of routine tracking, analysis and reporting products.
  • Receives and answers routine telephone inquiries or refers to the appropriate staff.
  • Assists with planning, preparing and supporting meetings and conferences.
  • Researching travel modes and finding accommodations, performing cost analysis and making recommends to staff to obtain the most efficient methods of travel.
  • Creates, processes and ensures statutory compliance for travel vouchers in accordance with the most current version of the Joint Travel Regulation.

  • This is an Office Automation position. Incumbent must self-certify as a qualified typist (40 wpm) for this position.
  • Position requires skill in operating word processing software and typing on a keyboard for a personal computer and the other office automation equipment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-03, you must have:
A. General Experience: Six months of general clerical / office experience or other work that indicates my ability to have acquired the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Examples of qualifying general experience includes performing entry level office work such as using Microsoft Word or similar a program to produce correspondence, print final version and route documents for signatures, using common office equipment such as printers, all in one copy machines, or converted document from one format to another such as print to file with Adobe or a similar program.
OR
B. Education: Two years of successful completion of education above high school, or an Associate's degree. The education must have been obtained from an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

To qualify at the GS-04, you must have:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-03 grade level in the Federal Service which includes experience providing support with assignments associated with administrative, clerical or general office work such as greeting customers, answering phones, answering general questions, using word processing software to produce a variety of correspondence, reports, office forms to include packaging products to final print using common office automation equipment such as printers, copying machines, fax machines, lamination, binding, stapling, and hole punching equipment.
OR
B. Education:
Two years of successful completion of education above high school, or an Associate's degree. The education must have been obtained from an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.). Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education with experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.(NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
OR
C. Combination of Education & Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; then add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. The education must have been obtained from an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

To qualify at the GS-05, you must have:
A. Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal Service which includes experience providing a full range of support performing duty assignments associated with administrative, clerical, personnel, procurement, budget, travel, transportation, and office automation. Examples of specialized experience includes greeting visitors in-person and over the phone; answering questions regarding general non-technical information; reviewing documents for correctness and accuracy; entering data into a new or existing databases; providing general clerical support to an office staff such as filing, using proper mail handling procedures while distributing mail, and assisting with procurement and distribution of office supplies.
OR
B. Education: Four years of successful completion of education above the high school, or a bachelor's degree. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
OR
C. Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
