As the Administrative Assistant in this position, you will:

  • Perform work assignments related to supply and property inventory management, and maintain inventory systems.
  • Serve as a trusted partner providing support on administrative and business management matters/activities.
  • Serve as the Certified Property Administrator with responsibility for managing and tracking the inventory of all accountable property.
  • Use purchasing procedures and systems to acquire supplies, equipment, and services for the FEC and serve as COR on assigned contracts.
  • Provide copy and mail center services, as well as transportation and messenger support services.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirement described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

You must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) providing administrative support to an office or organization. This must include activities such as: (1) creating, processing, or maintaining records/inventory related to supply and property inventory, and procurement; (2) using judgment to interpret and adapt guidelines to specific cases or problems; (3) plan, coordinate, or advise employees of the organization on administrative efforts; and (4) using software systems and equipment to perform administrative duties.

You must be able to perform physical demands of the position, such as such as long periods of standing; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching; or similar activities. Work is to perform activities to conduct physical inventories in storage areas, or when they are regularly involved in stocking and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets. You must be able to lift boxes or other items in the normal course of performing daily duties.

In addition, you must provide a cover letter describing your experience with the competencies identified below:

Applies knowledge of support principles, practices, policies, and processes to ensure effective and efficient administrative operations.
  • Procurement Policies and Procedures: Knowledge of related Federal statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures affecting acquisition planning, purchasing, and contract management. Applies knowledge of support principles, practices, policies, and processes to ensure effective and efficient administrative operations.
  • Reasoning: Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions.
  • Customer Service: Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous improvement. Provides advice and guidance to customers based on departmental policies and procedures. Coordinates the assessment, planning, and resolution of administrative requests and requirements.
  • Software, Systems, & Equipment: Working knowledge of and ability to effectively and efficiently perform work tasks using a variety of software, systems, and equipment used for administrative duties such as mail, supply & property inventory, procurement/acquisitions, facilities, document reproduction, and office automation.

Part-time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work experience: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
