Summary

As an Information Technology (IT) Specialist you will function as an Agile Software Developer.

Position: Office of GSA IT, Office of Digital Infrastructure Technologies (IDT), Integration & Deployment Branch A (IDTIC). The duty location will be determined at on the Regional Office Building (ROB) after selection is made.

As a an Information Technology (IT) Specialist you will serve as a technical project expert functioning as an Agile Software Developer, responsible for developing internal- and external-facing software components. 


You will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Develop, create, maintain, and write/code new (or modifies existing) computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs.
  • Work across different IT teams on projects.
  • Develop and maintain business, systems, and information processes to support enterprise mission needs.
  • Develop information technology rules and requirements that describe baseline and target architectures.
  • Conduct software and systems engineering and software systems research in order to develop new capabilities, ensuring cybersecurity is fully integrated.
  • Support the Continuity of Operations (COOP) program by working and coordinating with different teams during COOP exercises, natural disasters, event emergencies and maintaining up to date documentation.
  • Plan, organize, and manage projects in order to achieve a predefined goals or outcomes.

  • This position has job functions that must be executed within a specific geographic location. The official duty station is a federal facility, leased space, or an alternative worksite (typically the employee’s home). Positions include routine telework work arrangements that are geographically specific at any GSA regional or field office location. The duty station will be determined upon selection and will be located within the geographic area described below:

The GS-13 salary range starts at $98,496.00 per year.

If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or higher in the Federal service. 

Applicants applying for the GS-13 grade level must meet the following requirements: Have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service as described below:

IT SPECIALIST COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attention to Detail - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant investigates and evaluates “state of the art” technology of the industry.
  • Customer Service - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant confers with users to evaluate the effectiveness of, or identify the need for, computer programs or management systems.
  • Oral Communication - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant persuades others to take a particular course of action or to accept findings, recommendations, changes, or alternative viewpoints.
  • Problem Solving - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant identifies and accommodates technology and resource constraints.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Specialized experience is defined as having experience in the application of professional enterprise information technology (IT) architecture expertise; IT principles, techniques, hardware & software; the application of advanced IT concepts and methods (specifically, network operations, security, object-oriented systems, web servers, and internet technologies); and IT project management.
