Duties

Help

As a Communications Specialist (Housing Finance), you will:

  • Be responsible for planning, implementing, developing, and measuring mission-related communications initiatives designed to promote Ginnie Mae's operations, strategic plan efforts, and accomplishments.
  • Serve as the spokesperson for Ginnie Mae when appropriate, including crisis management and response. Anticipate, plan, and prepare media and stakeholder responses. Develop speeches, talking points, articles, video scripts, blog posts, social media posts, website content, podcast content, internal communication content, other remarks as requested, and Congressional responses and testimony for senior Ginnie Mae executives when appropriate.
  • Support all communications-related projects; prepare materials for external events and speeches, presentations, and other content on programs, products and policy initiatives, business plans, partnerships, and strategic priorities.
  • Serve as editor for all communications; recommends changes to written documents and establishes standard operating procedures that affect the organization's immediate operation. Work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.

The official duty station for this position will be in Washington, District of Columbia. Failure to report to duty at this location may be grounds for a disciplinary action, including removal.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To be qualified for this position at the GS-14 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level. This experience is defined as:

- Planning and implementing external and internal communications efforts, to inform and educate specific constituencies and the general public about an agency's core mission and programs; AND
- Working with the national media, pitching stories, and responding to media requests; AND
- Using media content to communicate the mission and initiatives of an organization to important stakeholders and other external audiences.

Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
