Duties

Help

  • Command program manager for AFSOC Automated Intelligence Systems (AIS) and equipment with primary emphasis on combat air intelligence systems (CAIS).
  • Functions as HQ AFSOC AIS expert. Supports the AFSOC Intelligence organization as required.
  • Serves as the Geospatial Information and Services (GI&S) Officer for Air Force Special Operations Command, Directorate of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance.
  • Primary AIS and/or GI&S representative for HQ AFSOC at national and SOF conferences, exchanges, and meetings.
  • Perform technical supervisory duties for a work force of five personnel. Properly safeguards classified and sensitive information.

  • These positions are in the excepted service authorized by Title 10 U.S.C. and covered by the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The employee must also sign a Statement of Understanding prior to occupying a DCIPS position.
  • Employee must possess a Special Sensitive/SCI clearance and be eligible for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Special Background Investigation and agree to a polygraph exam if necessary.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

This is a GG-13 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-13 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-13 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of AIS products, capabilities, training, and organization throughout the SOCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR) and Area of lnterest (AOI). Knowledge of, and proficiency in intelligence-related applications and system administration of USAF GI&S systems and a familiarity with all currently employed USAF, USSOCOM, and AFSOC GI&S Systems including PFPS/Falcon-View, Bird Dog Tools, C2PC, IMOM, Raindrop, and Windows 2000 and XP-based equipment and applications. Knowledge of the missions, roles, responsibilities, and intelligence requirements of AFSOC AIS, including the functions and processes associated with the national intelligence community and applicable intelligence directives. Knowledge of the functions and data available in the AFSOC organization, national intelligence agencies, and unclassified data sources to successfully research and utilize available intelligence for use in AFSOC AIS program management, products, and briefings. Knowledge of both classified and unclassified computer systems and intelligence communications/messaging systems to support AIS requirements. Knowledge of other service and SOF component AIS capabilities, organizations, operations, and structure. NOTE: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of AIS products, capabilities, training, and organization throughout the SOCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR) and Area of lnterest (AOI). Knowledge of, and proficiency in intelligence-related applications and system administration of USAF GI&S systems and a familiarity with all currently employed USAF, USSOCOM, and AFSOC GI&S Systems including PFPS/Falcon-View, Bird Dog Tools, C2PC, IMOM, Raindrop, and Windows 2000 and XP-based equipment and applications.
  2. Knowledge of the missions, roles, responsibilities, and intelligence requirements of AFSOC AIS, including the functions and processes associated with the national intelligence community and applicable intelligence directives. Knowledge of the functions and data available in the AFSOC organization, national intelligence agencies, and unclassified data sources to successfully research and utilize available intelligence for use in AFSOC AIS program management, products, and briefings.
  3. Knowledge of both classified and unclassified computer systems and intelligence communications/messaging systems to support AIS requirements. Knowledge of other service and SOF component AIS capabilities, organizations, operations, and structure.
  4. Leadership, organizational, planning and decision-making skills; ability to oversee details of all AIS/GI&S requirements for AFSOC.
  5. Ability to work with little or no supervision, to use initiative and original thought, and to make decisions relating to responsibilities. Ability to recognize gaps in AIS and GI&S Systems capabilities and recommend appropriate solutions.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate issues; and maintain close and effective relationships with co-workers and counterparts at various levels in United States (US) military and intelligence agencies.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED:
  • This position is designated by the Air Force as a Test Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. As a mandatory requirement for employment in this TDP, the incumbent is (A) to refrain from use of illegal drugs and (B) if requested, to submit to urinalyses testing. The selectee must sign a statement acknowledging the position occupied is identified as a TDP.
  • Employee is required to travel extensively by commercial and/or military aircraft to conduct Systems staff visits to subordinate units throughout the SOCOM AOR. Employee will coordinate functional matters with lateral commands, military service headquarters, and national agencies, and attend professional conferences and meetings around the world. Temporary duty (TDY) requirements may be levied with short notice and may require travel over nights, on weekends and for extended periods.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
