The Chief Scientific and Technical Advisor (CSTA) for Environment is a widely recognized national and international expert in the field of aviation noise, emissions, and/or energy and understands environmental effects of aviation on the atmosphere and impacts on the public at large. The incumbent serves as the agency technical expert for the planning and execution of research and its application in the advanced development and deployment of noise, fuel burn, and emissions reduction technologies and certification standards, including those related to sustainable aviation fuels. As a basic requirement for entry into the FAA Executive System, you must provide evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience that is indicative of senior executive level capability; and that is directly related to the skills and abilities outlined under the Technical Requirements listed below.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following have been determined to be selective factors for this position. This means possession of this criteria is part of the minimum qualifications and is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT: Demonstrated experience in the field of aviation acoustics, aircraft emissions, and/or aviation fuels research and recognized as an expert in the national and international aviation research arena.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT: Demonstrated experience collaborating with subject matter experts to utilize research results to inform for decision making of new aviation technologies and/or aviation policies.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT: Demonstrated experience serving as an effective spokesperson for the organization, both nationally and internationally.
