This vacancy announcement is for a Dual-Status Technician position which requires active membership in the New Jersey National Guard (uniformed military service). Official appointment is not effective until membership within the New Jersey National Guard is confirmed by the gaining Human Resources Office.

Duties

Help

As an INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-9, you will:

  • Plans, schedules, executes, manages and administers the State/territory/or district ARNG Industrial Hygiene Program.
  • Performs special surveys of facilities and shops when new equipment is installed or work procedures change.
  • Where deficiencies are noted, recommends appropriate changes which would prevent adverse health impact.
  • Recommends solutions to potential health concerns. Performs work area surveys to ensure compliance with established occupational safety and health regulations and to help compile a hazardous chemical inventory for the facility.
  • Assists the OHN with the management of the state Army National Guard (ARNG) Respiratory Protection Program
  • Conducts noise surveys before commencement of new operations or work processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

General Experience:

Experience, education, or training which provided a basic knowledge of principles and practices related to occupational health programs.

Specialized Experience:
Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training which provided a working knowledge of missions, organizations, programs and requirements of health care delivery systems. Experience developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs. Experience involving various administrative areas such as budget, personnel and public relations within a medical activity

Education

The applicant should at least be a high school graduate and have certifications/training or experience in industrial health.
