Duties

Help

This position is located at the USPFO Warehouse in Phoenix, Arizona. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with the responsibility for the overall operations of a small shop in CIF. The position oversees and directs works of one or more Materials Handlers, WG-6907-06, who are assigned to the shop. The incumbent performs the full range of non-supervisory work of the shop.

  • ARIZONA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Army National Guard, in a military organization supported by the USPFO.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Preferred forklift operator license/certificate or able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Able to attend a week-long course of ISM Training at PEC within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

Military Grades: SPC/CPL/E4 - SFC/E7

Compatible Military Assignments: Possess the MOS Series of 92 or able to become MOS qualified within 2 years of appointment

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 9 months experience performing inventory and inspections to determine serviceability of stocked items. Experience in interpreting and applying written instructions, reference materials, publications, and manuals. Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc.

Education

You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.

1. Skill to plan and lay out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the individual and lower graded worker(s).

2. Possesses the knowledge and skills found at the journeyman level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program.

3. Ability to independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished.

4. Ability to devise and maintain all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance.

5. Skill to plan, organize and direct shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision.
