Position has been designated as Special Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance.

Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.

Qualifications
Time in Grade:
For entry at the GS-07 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service.
For entry at the GS-09 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-07 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service.
For entry at the GS-11 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-09 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service.
For entry at the GS-12 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service.
Basic Requirements:
A. Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. OR
B. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination, OR
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria for the GS-07 grade level: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05) or equivalent within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: demonstrating skill in utilizing basic knowledge of auditing principles and procedures; working as part of an auditing team; and accomplishing basic auditing data collection. B. One year of graduate level education in auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. One full year of graduate education is the number of hours the school determines to equal one year. If this information is unavailable, 18 semester hours will be used as the standard. C. A bachelor's degree in auditing or directly related major and meet Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.). S.A.A. is based on (1) Class Standing-Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. (2) Grade-point average (G.P.A.)-Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. The final transcript must cover the period being used to determine G.P.A., i.e., all 4 years or last 2 years. (3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society-Applicant can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies listed in the Association of College Honor Societies. D. A combination of experience as described in "A" above and education as described in "B" above. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.

Specialized experience is defined as: demonstrating skill in utilizing basic knowledge of auditing principles and procedures in the planning and execution of audits; working as part of an auditing team; and accomplishing basic auditing data collection. B. A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. that may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. To be creditable, education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. C. A combination of experience as described in "A" above and education as described in "B" above. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.

Works as part of an auditing team. B. Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. C. A combination of experience as described in "A" above and education as described in "B" above. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.

Works as part of an auditing team.
Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. Education
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:
For the GS-07 level, one full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.
For the GS-09 level,two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education, master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.
For the GS-11 level, three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.
For the GS-12 level, there is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GS-12 grade level.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to substitute for the specialized experience requirement.
