Duties

Help
  • You will provide the Director, CDET academic expertise on all academic matters and serves as Head, Academics Department that is comprised of three sections representing the three PME programs.
  • You will be responsible to the Director for the full range of oversight and management of the academic programs to include the three associate deans of each of the programs and the products and services provided by course directors.
  • You will manage the infrastructure necessary to ensure the smooth administration of all functions related to all CDET academic programs.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining requisite expertise in educational policies and procedures relating to Marine Corps education matters.
  • You will perform the full range of administrative and technical supervisory duties including work planning, assignments, training, discipline and leave for Five civilians in the grades of GS-11 (1), GS-14 (3) and AD03 (1).
  • You will establish performance standards, objectives and conducts performance evaluation of subordinates.
  • You will provide guidance, information and training to subordinates on performance and administrative matters to further their personal and professional development.
  • You will provide subject matter expertise to ensure the requirements of assigned contracts are met.
  • You will monitor the contractor's efforts and progress in meeting the requirements of the contract, directs the flow of matters between the contractor and agency, and resolves technical issues in a timely manner.
  • You will regularly communicate with the Contracting Officer regarding progress or lack of progress on and compliance with the contract requirements.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain at least a Secret level security clearance.

The candidate should be an expert on Professional Military Education requirements and/or an expert in Distance/Distributed learning methodologies. Professional knowledge applicable to a wide range of duties with the broad functional areas of learning theory and the principles, methods, practices and techniques of one or more specialties of the instructional systems field is required, as is skill in using this knowledge and skill in serving as a course director in support of MCU or other military service college or school. Candidates must be able to effectively manage techniques and problem solve regarding issues relevant to the development and delivery of the professional military education curriculum. Candidates must be able to find and implement ways to improve educational programs and in enhancing the quality of program/course delivery by increasing access, reducing barriers, and combining and implementing effective pedagogical/andragogic standards with sound technological practices.

Candidates must also possess knowledge of officer and enlisted professional military education content, policies and requirements and the ability to critique and supervise the rewrite of military education policy documents to ensure they fulfill Marine Corps and DoD (Joint) requirements. They must also possess an expert knowledge of and skill in educational leadership relating to undergraduate and graduate-level educational standards and practices to evaluate distance education courses and classroom (seminar) instructional methodologies.

This opening will be filled under Title 10 Excepted Service, Academic Faculty (AD-09), salary range: $132,230-$155,631 which includes the current Local Market Supplement of 24.78%. Pay and title will be set commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and MCU pay setting.

This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

This is a Solicitation of Interest for qualified candidates to fill an excepted service Security Studies faculty position (Title 10) at the Marine Corps College of Distance Education and Training, (CDET), Marine Corps University. CDET is located in Breckenridge Hall on the campus of the Marine Corps University, Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia, located 35 miles south of Washington, DC.

The purpose and focus of effort of this Title 10 faculty position is to design, develop, coordinate, implement, instruct, and evaluate student performance in the functional area of Officer and Enlisted Professional Military Education curriculums. The CDET is the organization within EDCOM responsible for the design, development and delivery of quality distance training and education courses/programs throughout the Marine Corps.
