Duties

As a SUPPLY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (TITLE 5), GS-2003-9, you will provide technical assistance on supply operations; analyze, develop, evaluate or promote improvements in the policies, plans, methods, procedures or techniques of a supply program/operations.

  • Provide technical guidance and instruction to other personnel.
  • Evaluate fluctuations in rate of usage, cost, and availability for established suppliers, alternative accelerated or decelerated acquisition, notifications to seek additional vendors, or other actions, designed to support maintenance operations without interruption in the flow of materials.
  • Provide advice, counsel or instruction to others on both work and administrative matters.
  • Prepare written analyses of activities and problems with recommendations for solution for high level supply management.
  • Ensure supply actions taken within the weapon system cell meet regulatory compliance, customer needs and are in line with overall command mission goals.
  • Participate in Air Force and MAJCOM conferences associated with the overall support of assigned weapon systems(s) to assist in the development and/or evaluation of new or revised USAF policy and procedures.
  • Review DoD, USAF, AFMC and AMC planning, programming, and procedural publications that pertain to weapon system support.
  • Develop briefings, position papers and staff summary sheets used by senior managers to make informed support decisions.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with other flights within the squadron, supported organizations and other staff offices. equipment and related items.

  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
  • This position is subject to shift work and/or weekend assignments.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: To qualify for this position, your resume must reflect sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position for which you are applying. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07 Level. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 Level - Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-07, in the Federal service in the normal line of progression for the occupation Supply Management Specialist in an organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: studying and analyzing specific issues of weapon systems; analyzing, developing, and evaluating improvements in policies, plans, methods, procedures, and/or techniques of a supply program; providing advice, counsel, and/or instruction to others on both work and administrative matters; advising on ways to improve the efficiency and economy of supply operations; ordering a variety of technical supplies ranging from common administrative to support materials; monitoring the disposal of surplus and excess property; monitoring the operation of storerooms and distribution points; preparing written analysis of activities and problems with recommendations for solution for supply management; and ensuring supply actions taken within a weapon system cell meet regulatory compliance and customer needs.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-07 grade/level position or equivalent in the federal service.

EDUCATION: Must have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position.
