As a Program Specialist (Robotic Process Automation), you will perform the following duties:

  • Assist with producing keystroke-level documentation of the tasks to be automated, and obtains approval from the Development Manager and Process Owner. Assist with producing automation application architecture per best practices, reusing code from the 'Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Asset Library' or other code repositories to the greatest extent possible, and obtains Development Manager approval.
  • Assist in producing plans for developer testing and user acceptance testing (UAT), executes test plan, completes any necessary code fixes or modifications necessary to successfully complete UAT. Assist in producing documentation required for security and privacy approval of automations.
  • Communicate clearly and precisely throughout the application development process with RPA Program management, process owners, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders as needed. Collaborate with senior developers in making necessary code changes to configure applications to operate in the production environment, and deliver code to Production Support to deploy.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, testing, fixing and/or modifying existing automations as needed under the supervision of lead developer. Assist with updating dashboards for purposes of monitoring and measuring application performance (complete and accurate results) by Process Owner and management.

The GS-09 salary range starts at $57,118 per year. Locality will be determined based on duty location.

If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that demonstrates knowledge of information technology (IT) application software development principles including common programming languages (e.g. Google Apps Script, JavaScript, Python, C#, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), PowerShell), version control software (e.g. Git, Github, Artifactory, Mercurial, Azure DevOps Server) or code repositories (e.g. Github, Bitbucket), and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in order to assist in successfully completing the development of process automation solutions. OR

Education: Possess Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such degree or a LLB or J.D. related to the position being filled. OR

Combination of Education and Experience: Possess a combination of graduate level education and appropriate experience that together meet the qualification requirements of this position.

How you will be evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

We will use a method called Category Rating to assess your application. Here’s how it will work:

You will be scored on the questions you answer during the application process, which will measure your possession of the following competencies or knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  1. Knowledge of automation software UiPath or Google Apps Script is preferable, including keystroke-level process documentation, coding, and testing.
  2. Ability to learn and absorb information and utilize technology to develop innovative business solutions.
  3. Skill in written and verbal communication to provide advice or make presentations in project meetings.
  4. Ability to collaborate and interface with team members, including contractors, and staff within and outside Office of the Chief Financial Officer to ensure successful projects.
  5. Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques used to gather, analyze and evaluate information.

Your answers to the questions will be used to place you in one of the following categories and standard score ranges:

  • Best Qualified = Candidates scoring between 95 - 100
  • Well Qualified = Candidates scoring between 85 - 94 (Well Qualified for CTAP/ICTAP)
  • Qualified = Candidates scoring between 70 - 84

Within each category, veterans will receive selection priority over non-veterans.
