Duties

Help

Coordinates and assists with race operations as well as identifying needs and providing input for logistical and organizational requirements. Acts as Race Coordinator for the 17.75K, MCMO Race series and other MCMO events. Prepares timelines for MCM race weekend and coordinates special projects on Marine Corps Base Quantico.  Will work closely with Operations Manager on race course designs for all MCM events and assist in implementing improvements. Provides operational assistance for MCM and other events as needed.

Provides detailed accounting of financial requirements to supervisor for budgeting purposes and maintains fiscal records for each event.  Assists in the creation of reports and briefs.  May draft plans, manuals and letters of instructions.  May provide contract oversight or serve as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR).  Additional tasks may include maintaining all event files, Special Project Officers (SPOs) coordination and communication, assisting with creating running courses, producing documentation required by supporting agencies, and submitting permits.   Will support or facilitate annual manpower review and requirements development.

May be required to travel to attend MCMO races, meetings and expos to promote races and events.  May assist in preparations for MCMO races and events by setting up cones, tents, start and finish lines and other race requirements.  May observe race protocol and practices by attending other races within the running industry and learning how they prepare, plan and execute races. May be required to stand for extended periods of times.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy.  Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.  Asks questions to determine, verify, and solve problems.  Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services.  Takes action to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.  Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Uses any required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.  Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other duties as assigned.  This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Three years’ experience in business management, project management or operations management is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Business or management is preferred. Operations Management or Business Management is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted for the qualifications above.  Must have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must have excellent organizational skills.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the qualifications above.  Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
