As a Admissions Specialist you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing all activities within the function of the Department of Admissions and responsible for the student admissions and records activity.

As a Admissions SpecialistGS-0301-11, your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Develop the SIPI Academic Catalog and Academic Calendar.
  • Develop and evaluate the established academic policies.
  • Coordinate and organize the commencement ceremony; certify graduates according to program of studies.
  • Review and evaluate incoming transcripts of Transfer Students according to given program of studies.
  • Ensure Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Guidelines are met.
  • Review and evaluate the student information system, recommend updates as required.
  • Ensure student academic folders are complete with required records and academic processes of students.

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

GS-11-I have 1 year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service. Examples include: college registration processes, processing student admissions packets, familiar with student records, FERPA privacy, receives student fees, familiar with state guidelines in admissions and higher education.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or
LL.M., if related.

Combination of experience and graduate education as described above and when combined together meets 100% of the total requirements for the position.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement at this grade level. Therefore, no transcripts are required.
