Help

Typical duties include:

  • Understanding and interpreting technical aspects of crypto asset transactions, markets, and processes, including blockchain technology and so-called decentralized finance protocols;
  • Developing and maintaining expertise with a variety of crypto asset tools and resources, including crypto-asset tracing tools;
  • Analyzing smart contracts;
  • Developing and implementing techniques and protocols to more accurately and rapidly detect illegal crypto asset related activity affecting the securities markets, such as wash trading, front running and other forms of market manipulation, fraudulent claims about protocols and platforms, touting, and other violations;
  • Conducting detailed analysis of large data sets associated with crypto asset transactions, including on-chain and off-chain data;
  • Working on investigations within the Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit and throughout the Enforcement Division;
  • Identifying trends and patterns across a wide-range of crypto asset related investigations;
  • Representing the Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit in connection with areas of their responsibility, and carrying the requisite authority as team leader on projects; and
  • Developing and implementing techniques to utilize key data and information to aid in the investigation of crypto asset activity and violations of the US securities laws.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:

SK-14: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-13 level. Specialized experience includes ALL of the following:

(1) Experience with blockchain technology and/or so-called decentralized finance protocols;
(2) Performing crypto asset tracing and/or analyzing smart contracts;
(3) Conducting analysis of large data sets; and
(4) Developing and maintaining expertise with crypto asset and cyber-related tools and resources.
