Duties

Help

As an Intelligence Operations Specialist you will: perform specialized IMINT duties as a Distributed Ground Station (DGS) crew member and to train assigned military unit members in the duties and functions associated with IMINT Tasking, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TPED). Provides real-time IMINT TPED support to National Agencies, Joint Commands, Air Force Major Commands (MAJCOMs), Air Operations Centers (AOCs), and US and coalition airborne assets in exercises and contingency operations. Ensures real-time and near-real-time IMINT reporting and analysis is timely and accurate.
  • Serves as a DGS crew member in the IMINT exploitation section, responsible for IMINT operations and production affecting time critical targeting (TCT), direct threat warning, battle damage assessment, combat identification, combat search and rescue, multi-INT correlation, threat analysis, mapping, intelligence preparation of the battle space, situation monitoring, and mission reporting.
  • Evaluates and interprets raw IMINT information received from all sources.
  • Interprets, exploits, and plots information derived from imagery, establishing specific data such as distance, cubic capacity of buildings, tanks and storage facilities, line of communications, transportation systems, number, type and specific location of facilities and marshaling areas, troop movements and contour of terrain and man-made features.
  • Prepares post-mission reports from IMINT analysis of patterns, trends, and characteristics for general intelligence and operational community consumption.
  • Works with other crew members to ensure the IMINT exploitation section maintains a capability to provide timely and accurate operational intelligence support and fully trained intelligence personnel during peacetime and contingency operations.
  • To enhance the DGS crew's mission readiness, maintains a thorough knowledge of all aspects of internal IMINT training.
  • Coordinates IMINT training requirements with Gaining Command Intelligence Section.

Statement of Difference: Advancement to GS 09 secondary and subsequently GS 11 levels, is not automatic with the completion of the training time required at this grade level, but rather it is contingent upon the assignment and performance of higher graded duties on a regular and recurring basis. The immediate supervisor and the higher level supervisors in the organization must assure the helper duties and subsequent intermediate level is essential and has been adequately mastered through actual performance of higher graded journey level duties. A locally developed Individual Development Plan (IDP) will be established for the incumbent. This plan will be designed to provide the individual selected with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and hone their skills to meet the full operating level of the Intelligence Operations Specialist, GS 0132-11, PD # D1797000.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have the experience, education, or training which demonstrates developing and recommending policy organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of all source intelligence operations; administrative, professional, investigative, or technical work requiring the ability to deal effectively with others, to collect, evaluate and organize pertinent facts; experience preparing clear and concise written reports.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (GS-07): Applicant must have at least 12 months experience, education or training investigating and collecting data to develop reports of findings; experience storing, controlling, destroying and accounting for classified documents.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (GS-09): Applicant must have at least 24 months experience, education or training performing functions involving various intelligence systems and organizations; experience reviewing and analyzing data including technical reports, surveys, and studies; experience preparing and conducting training plans and programs, both formal and on-the-job.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (GS-11): Applicant must have at least 36 months experience, education or training developing and recommending policy, organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of intelligence operations; experience in administrative, investigative, or technical work which required the applicant to deal effectively with others; experience collecting, evaluating and organizing pertinent facts and to analyze and prepare clear and concise reports.

Education
