Duties

Help

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-07. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Review relocation related documents after authorization to verify data, accuracy and to perform reconciliation of accounts. Prepare travel vouchers and enter data into an automated travel system or onto required forms, compare transactions entered to those intended, correct invalid or erroneous entries.
  • Perform pre-payment audits of third-party invoices in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR) and agency policy.
  • Provide customer service pertaining to travel related questions by answering questions for numerous franchise customers with regards to the FTR, Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), agency internal policies, and payment status information from the accounting system.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation. Periodic reinvestigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years.
  • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes two of the three:
- Gather pertinent data, identify problems and recognize solutions; OR
- Plan and organize work; OR
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
or
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school.
or
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.

For the GS-06, you must have one year of specialized experience at level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes:
- Preparing travel documents following established procedures; AND
- Reconciling documentation.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-06, you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-05, you may be advanced to the GS-05 position if you have held a position no lower than GS-03 in the preceding year under your latest non-temporary competitive appointment OR have held a position at GS-05 or higher under a non-temporary appointment at any time in the past.
