Duties

Help

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing substantive IT Support to the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of the Virgin Islands. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Performing litigation support tasks associated with day-to-day operation of the United States Attorney Office (USAO) litigation systems.
  • Coordinating litigation support services (including trial preparation and presentation) in response to customer needs.
  • Performing testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, maintenance of litigation system resources used for the transmission of information in data, voice and/or video format.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
  • Developing, testing, and implementing internet, intranet, and extranet litigation system and IT activities, including technical management of websites.
  • Providing customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training in response to user requirements.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

GS-09: GS-09: To be eligible at the GS-09 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.

Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped me with the competencies needed to perform the duties of the job. Qualifying experience demonstrates possession of each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving. Examples of specialized experience include: configuring, installing, or managing network systems; installing Windows based servers and maintaining existing servers' assessing Information Technology policy needs; establishing metrics to measure and evaluate systems performance; performing network diagnostics and resolving network problems; maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; installing and maintaining compatible database systems; develops training to meet customer needs; and maintains systems security by responding to security events and training office staff.

Education: a Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B.) in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks; OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
