Duties

Help

This position is located at the Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems unit located in Red Rock, Arizona. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Standardization Instructor Operator (DO/IO) primary Training Administrator for the Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System Operating Facility (TUASOF) Commander. Performs the additional duties of Standardization Operator (SO) and Aviation Gunnery.

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air and or Army National Guard, in a military position assigned to DET 1 D CO 227th BEB.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver’s license.
  • This position may be relocated. Incumbent may be eligible for a relocation incentive based on availability of funds.
  • The incumbent may occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.
  • Required to maintain a current class 4 flight duty medical exam (FDME) IAW AR 40-501. Ft. Rucker is the only authorized granting official for any waivers.
  • Required to maintain currency per Readiness Level and Flight Activity Category levels designated by the commander.
  • Required to maintain satisfactory performance on all hands-on, oral and written evaluations per the aircrew training manual TC 3-04.11.
  • RL1 soldiers must be current with Annual Proficiency and Readiness Test (APART) requirements per AR 95-1 and TC 3-04.11.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training routine and non-routine preflight, in-flight, post-flight, ground or command and control (C2) duties according to specific transportation functions. Receives, interprets, extracts, and disseminates relevant data for mission planning or execution. Experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems.

1. Thorough knowledge of radar operation fundamentals, characteristics, and limitations of ground based warning C2, surveillance, and mission systems.

2. Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in surveillance, target detection and tracking, reporting, receiving, displaying, recording and relaying threat data.

3. Knowledge and capability to comprehend, plan, coordinate and apply communications methods and analytical techniques.

4. Knowledge of battle management concepts and principles.

5. Ability to work as a Ground ISR crew team member or team leader and effectively coordinate with other team members.
