As an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) providing expert advice and analysis to Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Information Officer (CIO) regarding the OSC's IT systems, software, and hardware, security requirements and system administration of mission critical applications for the agency's IT operations.
You will be responsible for:
Advising management and stakeholders on a wide range and variety of complex information security issues in accordance with IT policies, industry standards, OMB mandates, Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) guidelines, and cybersecurity improvements.
Strengthening the information system security program by identifying potential intrusions and vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation strategies and techniques to secure networks and IT assets.
Guiding and controlling security requirements in the engineering and implementation of new systems and major systems revisions.
Analyzing proposals for current and future applications and prepares security recommendations to management.
Providing technical interface with contractors and company technical representatives on the diagnoses and resolution of IT problems.
Managing projects that have a significant impact on the delivery of customer support services and/or CIO vision.

You may be required to serve a 1 year probationary period.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the IT Competencies AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.
Four (4) IT Competencies:
Attention to Detail - Identifying customer's Information systems requirements; Customer Service - Supporting multiple information security management activities; Oral Communication - Providing advice and instructions to staff on IT security issues; and Problem Solving - Determining accuracy and relevance of IT information.

Specialized Experience: GS-13: Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
Providing security planning, assessment, and risk management to ensure;
Working with other IT Specialists to configure and build secure web enabled applications and business solutions; and
Utilizing technical expertise to troubleshoot, diagnosing, and resolving complex IT systems security related issues.
