Duties

Help
  • You will ensure configuration management (CM) for security-relevant AIS software, hardware, and firmware are properly documented.
  • You will review and deliver reports on security documentation including systems security plans (SSP) and POA and Ms.
  • You will review system security audit trails and system security documentation to ensure security measures are implemented effectively.
  • You will evaluate known vulnerabilities to ascertain if additional safeguards are needed.
  • You will assist in the development, updating changes to systems and assessing the security impact of those changes.
  • You will perform periodic and on-demand system audits, vulnerability assessments and scans.
  • You will have expert knowledge in using a variety of vulnerability scanning tools.
  • You will review compliance with government regulations.
  • You will provide information to management regarding the negative impact on the cyber mission caused by compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • You will have knowledge of the National Vulnerability Database (NVD) and Common Vulnerability Enumeration (CVE).
  • You will have experience in working with the NIST 800 Special Publication series guidance for risk management and security control implementation, including 800-30,800-37, 800-53, 800-60, 800-63, 800-115, or 800-137.
  • You will have experience with applying and verifying implementation of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • You will have testing experience with Assured Compliance Assessment Solutions (ACAS) Vulnerability Scanner and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP).

  • This position may require shift work, weekend, holiday work, overtime, and irregular hours.
  • The incumbent may be required to perform occasional travel (25% or less) which may involve the use of commercial and/or government aircraft.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Detailed working Risk Management Framework (RMF), Computer Network Defense (CND) and cyber assessment/inspection of complex network systems. Analyzing systems to determine vulnerabilities, conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of Information Technology systems/supply chain and recommend mitigation or remediation of the risks. Reviewing the implementation of patches and updates for existing and emerging technologies.

This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f.

JOB SUMMARY CONTINUATION -
This position is part of the Marine Forces Cyberspace Command (MARFORCYBER) Joint Mission Operations Center (JMOC). The incumbent will be responsible for serving as an Change Compliance Specialist and is responsible for overseeing the implementation, guidance, assessment, monitoring and auditing of the application of measures that mitigate cyber-vulnerabilities and protect the loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability to assigned JMOC systems and information.
