Duties

As a Food Service Worker WG-7408-2, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

  • Prepares and assists in the preparation of variety of hot and cold foods.
  • Conveys food and supplies from various food service areas by carrying or utilizing a mobile cart.
  • Preps and sets up food service area under detailed instructions and in accordance with specific area needs.
  • Cleans, remove parts, and reassembles equipment and recognizes obvious wear or need for repairs.
  • Loads, unloads, and cleans food carts and food warmers.
  • Assists in stacking food or subsistence items in the storeroom and places supplies in proper storage.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications and will be evaluated on their ability to perform duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope and quality of all experience and training.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clean, well-lighted kitchen and dining room. Kitchen is usually noisy from food service activities. Is exposed to the possibility of cuts and burns from handling utensils that are washed in dishwashing machine. Also, danger of slipping on floors where food and beverages have been spilled or have been freshly mopped. Is exposed to extremely cold conditions when storing and or removing food items from the walk-in freezer and leftover walk-in storage area. Is exposed to extremely hot conditions when working around hot food preparation area. Subject to prolonged periods of standing. Must abide by personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures such as wearing a hairnet or hat and a clean uniform daily.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:
The incumbent may be required to work other than normal hours as necessary to handle emergency situations or peak workloads. Incumbent may be subject to rotating shifts, weekend hours, and extended hour days.

Physical Examination: Incumbent will require a medical physical examination.
