Responsible for consulting, negotiating and scheduling the overall management of requested laboratory project services.
Coordinate with Laboratory Sciences (LS) management, clients and external agencies, to ensure the production of appropriate, accurate, and timely analytical results.
Coordinate sample priorities and turnaround times. As a project leader performs a variety of project planning, and coordination for complex projects that consist of a broad scope of analytical methods.
Provide advice to the Army leadership on development and implementation of technical policy directives and programs, identifies problems, furnishes technical advice on approaches on individual technical problems.
Set and adjust goals and work priorities to meet mission objectives.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Education requirement:
Chemist:
A Bachelor's (or higher) degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.
OR
Possess a combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Physical Scientist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Specialized experience GS-13: advising customers on the collection and analysis of the full range of public health analysis; providing guidance on matters of policy, program and/or available resources; revising and updating policies and technical guides as it relates to laboratory support.
