Its purpose is to operate and perform operator maintenance on one or more motor vehicles to transport personnel, supplies, materials or equipment.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain security clearance within 1 year of employment. The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
  • Irregular and overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial vehicles to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle, an appropriate valid driver?s license is required.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver?s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 12 months experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, fuel trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, and trash removal trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 11,700 kilograms (26,000 pounds) and up to 14,400 kilograms (less than 32,000 pounds). Experience operating vehicles and tractors, some of which may be equipped with special-purpose powered equipment. Experience operating platform, van, stake and dump trucks, refueling vehicles passenger buses or ambulance buses.

Additional information

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs work on hard surfaces in work areas that require the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries items that weigh up to 70 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbent is required to work inside and outside and is exposed to all to all types of weather and traffic conditions. The incumbent is exposed to the possibility of serious injury from traffic accidents or while handling heavy equipment and supplies.

The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle, an appropriate valid driver's license is required.
