Duties

Help
  • You will perform all tasks required to process Library of the Marine Corps interlibrary loan transactions and maintain associated records and files daily.
  • You will input and process interlibrary loan transactions in the Library of the Marine Corps Alma system as well as the OCLC WorldShare Interlibrary Loan system daily.
  • You will use Library of the Marine Corps catalog and databases as well as OCLC platforms such as WorldCat and WorldShare to identify the most timely and cost-effective sources to borrow and loan library materials daily.
  • You will photocopy or produce scanned copies of interlibrary loan requests and send via mail or email daily.
  • You will support library patrons in use of the Library of the Marine Corps catalog, databases, public access computers, and meeting spaces daily.
  • You will maintain records system for Library of the Marine Corps interlibrary loan transactions and communicate with libraries to resolve materials recovery problems daily.
  • You will pack and facilitate shipment of physical items being loaned or returned daily.
  • You will answer recurring and ready reference questions regarding Library of the Marine Corps and, when warranted, refer patrons to appropriate personnel daily.
  • You will answer telephone, transfers calls, and relay and record messages daily.
  • You will check library materials in and out daily and re-shelve library materials as required weekly.
  • You will perform other related duties as assigned daily.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Processing loans to other libraries; 2) Managing various library functions (e.g., patron account management, circulation, and catalog searching) within an integrated library system; 3) Performing check-in and check-out procedures within a public-facing information management setting (e.g., library, archives, records center); and 4) Maintaining statistical records of borrowing and lending.

Additional information

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; scheduled evening and weekend shifts; tour of duty subject to change to meet the needs of the Agency.

Position requires some periods of moderate lifting (less than 25 lbs.), standing, bending, stooping, stairway climbing, reaching, pulling, and pushing are part of the normal activities on a daily basis.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
