Duties

Help

Creates, edits and maintains a strategic plan for enhancing communications between the CIO and Senate community; oversees distribution of all CIO product and service-related communications. Develops, edits and oversees distribution of scheduled communications including community notices and the weekly CIO bulletin. Assists in developing materials and communicating policies and procedures in support of SAA initiatives; assists in defining the objectives of communications initiatives, ensuring that communications programs effectively and consistently describe and promote CIO products and services. Works directly with project teams to fully understand product and communication needs. Designs and implements marketing campaigns. Identifies new ways to increase community engagement. Plans and designs customer surveys and determines appropriate survey methods. Analyzes, summarizes and presents survey data, using tables, graphs, and fact sheets. Evaluates surveys and their underlying methods, and their performance to improve future surveys.

Qualifications

Work requires a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English or related field, and five to eight years of progressively responsible professional experience in developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies, converting complex technical ideas into business terms or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:

  • Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable to a non-technical audience. • Sound knowledge of trends in workplace technology; high-level understanding of general technologies.
  • Ability to plan, develop and implement communications and marketing strategies, campaigns and products.
  • Ability to evaluate communications processes, and to research, recommend and implement ways to communicate effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to integrate various communications vehicles and products into a cohesive system that delivers appropriate messages to appropriate audiences.
  • Knowledge of organizational communications theory and practice.
  • Knowledge of common survey platforms, strategies and analytics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that will include collaboration with project teams and public speaking and presentations.
  • Ability to write clearly, concisely and to a variety of audiences on a range of issues and topics.
  • Ability to coordinate with the design team in creating graphics to support marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to edit and proofread at a high level with minimal errors.
  • Ability to track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and Senate staff.
  • Mastery of English grammar, punctuation, spelling and composition.
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills to work independently and manage projects with many moving parts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a remote environment and requires sitting and operating a computer for extended periods, with occasional standing, climbing, pulling and safely lifting up to 25 pounds. May occasionally work evenings or weekends if communication about time-sensitive problems or incidents is required.
