Duties

Help

As an Economist (Research Analyst), you will:

-Provide research and analysis on pertinent issues, laws, economic policies, and precedents that affect the programs of this organization.
-Research, verify, edit, extract, and assemble data from various sources.
-Prepare economic charts, graphs, talking points and other supporting materials based on analysis and research results by the Office for dissemination to other Administration officials, the Congress, the press, and outside groups.
-As directed, search, review, and summarize information in professional economic journals, books, and other materials, identifying relevant portions and preparing summaries of the articles for distribution and review within the Office.
-Advise and recommend courses of action or policy changes and economic initiatives; validate data and accuracy of information upon which policy decisions may be based.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-11: You must have one year of experience at the GS-9 level in Federal service, or equivalent experience in the public and/or private sector, directly related to the position that has equipped the candidate with the particular experience to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:

Researching, verifying, editing, extracting, and assembling data from various sources to provide analysis of economic policies, issues, and laws; AND
Preparing economic charts, graphs, talking points, and summaries of content found in professional materials (such as books or journals) for dissemination to diverse audiences both internal and external to an organization; AND
Presenting clear and concise summary and analysis, both orally and in writing, of technical information related to economic policies and initiatives to senior officials and/or non-technical audiences who lack expertise in the area; AND
Performing administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, coordinating meeting attendance, preparing meeting materials, conference room setup, and/or preparing meeting notes or minutes.

OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows. Education must be directly related to this experience to be qualifying: Master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

Education

Education Requirements:

Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus; OR
B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.


The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
