Duties

Help
  • Serves as scientific and technical (S and T) intelligence analyst within the Emerging and Disruptive Technology (EDT) Division at the National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC).
  • Conducts research and analysis of foreign military activities and technologies related to microbiology, biology and biotech developments and their military applications for the production of all-source intelligence products.
  • Conducts research and analysis of scientific and technical information and produces finished intelligence products that address Department of the Army (DA), Department of Defense (DoD), and national-level intelligence requirements.
  • Serves as technical lead developing biotech related innovative projects and research initiatives to identify and critical knowledge gaps. Experience leading teams and mentoring junior staff.
  • Presents information in a compelling manner and defends NGIC and Army Intelligence analytic positions within the intelligence, defense planning, and operational communities.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GG/GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience in production of finished scientific and technical (S&T) intelligence products, to include forecasts and overall assessments with respect to the application of synthetic biology and biotechnology technologies and approaches with relevance to future military capabilities. Work requires an expert knowledge of biological sciences and biotechnology principles and techniques associated with applicable foreign research and development trends using a wide array of information sources; knowledge of and experience in applying the principles, concepts and techniques of a difficult and complex S&TI subject area; knowledge of a wide range of S&TI analysis principles, techniques and methodologies; knowledge of the mission and functions of customer activities in order to define critical intelligence issues and produce targeted S&TI products utilizing innovative analytical methodologies.
