Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Ensure all aircrew flight equipment meets strict airworthiness criteria and that it will sustain combat operations/readiness by inspecting, testing, calibrating, certifying, diagnostic evaluating, troubleshooting, repairing/replacing, assembling and disassembling all Aircrew Flight Equipment, aircrew chemical/biological defense equipment, and aircraft ejection/non-ejection systems
  • Certify Aircrew Flight Equipment requirements for all missions; and ensure aircraft are properly configured with proper types and numbers of Aircrew Flight Equipment dependent on destination and mission being flown; certify by signature forms and equipment records the proper configuration and serviceability of aircraft installed equipment
  • Conduct Follow on Test and Evaluation of Aircrew Flight Equipment and aircrew chemical defense equipment to ensure flight safety and optimum performance standards
  • Forecast, requisition, and store life support equipment and supplies to include multiple munitions types; conduct weapons and ammunition inspections and issue/turn-in procedures during operational contingencies/exercises
  • Conduct formal academic classroom and technical instruction for all pilots, aircrew, passengers on: Global Survival, Combat Search and Rescue Training; Water Survival Training; High Risk Isolation; Ejection/Non-ejection Seat Egress Training; Emergency Parachute Procedural Descent Training, utilizing a state of the art virtual reality trainer; Aircrew Chemical Defense Equipment, utilizing the Aircrew Eye Respiratory Protection System, which is an aircraft-integrated, self-contained oxygen and filtration system with aircraft-integrated electronics, communications and oxygen capabilities; Aircrew Chemical/Biological Control Area Decontamination procedures; and Aircrew Chemical Defense task qualification training
  • Utilize, maintain, and update multiple computer main frame programs/data bases to analyze, troubleshoot, schedule, and maintain inspection and accountability reports/documentation on all aircrew/aircraft life support and aircrew chemical-biological defense equipment
  • Utilize Equipment and Financial Processing Systems; review Allowance Source Codes and Fed log and initiates and sends supply documents; coordinate with SBSS, Equipment Managers, Contracting offices, Resource Advisors, Financial Working Groups, Financial Management Board, and Depot Level Repairable analyst
  • Maintain equipment management, control, accountability, supply accounts, supply tracking logs, and separate funding accounts; prepare annual Financial Plans, manages funding for Budget Execution Review II and III
  • Order Technical Orders (T.O.'s), receive/update T.O. changes, file and distribute T.O.'s, perform inventories and checks, order compliance and modification items, perform Interim Time Compliance Technical Order, Operational and Safety Supplement changes to all affected equipment, perform T.O. Familiarization, and record and document appropriate forms; improve T.O.'s by evaluating areas in need of modification, completes and submits appropriate forms
  • Inventory and monitor Precision Maintenance Equipment Laboratory equipment, prepare equipment for pick up and delivery, prepare appropriate documentation, coordinate with inspection or maintenance activities, pick up and drop off equipment, unload and load vehicle, perform acceptance inspection, and annotate equipment record; operates a forklift in accomplishing these and other assigned duties
  • Manage, monitor, and conduct inventories of all Aircrew Flight Equipment munitions/ammunition assets, forecast time change requirements, remove and install all munitions, and transport via Military/Commercial Aircraft and/or vehicles; maintain munitions/ammunition at designated supply point locations, document appropriate accounts, receive formal training required to ensure the unit's mission can sustain combat operations
  • Maintain certification and remain proficient in handling, shipping, storing, and ordering multiple hazardous materials; certify, handle, and ship all required hazardous materials for operational contingencies on any type of military aircraft, commercial aircraft, and/or vehicles, which directly support Aircrew Flight Equipment
  • Responsible for the Life Support Hazardous Material Pharmacy program; research all required Material Safety Data Summary documentation and ensure all appropriate safety documentation and regulations are followed and strictly complied with
  • Manage a comprehensive Aircrew Flight Equipment mobility package required to sustain bare base operations under surge type conditions; utilize and monitor the Logistics Detail Data-Base, ensuring all assets are properly loaded into the system for accuracy; perform periodic in-depth inspections

  • The position requires the incumbent attend water and land survival schools, the Life Support instructor course, and the aircraft accident reporting course.
  • Incumbent is required to acquire and maintain a secret security clearance. Also the incumbent must be able to obtain materials handling license(s) for equipment utilized in the assignment.
  • Must be certified and remain current in Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA).

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.


Military Grades: Enlisted Only - Minimum Rank of SSgt / Maximum Rank of SMSgt.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment); ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Level MUST possess Specialized Experience which includes at least 18 months experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment; experience reading and interpreting military manuals; experience in supply procedures and property accountability; experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups; experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential. WG-08 Level MUST possess Specialized Experience which includes at least 12 months experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment; experience reading and interpreting military manuals; experience in supply procedures and property accountability. WG-05 Level MUST possess Specialized Experience which includes at least 6 months experience or training which has demonstrated a basic knowledge of aviation life support equipment; experience using common hand tools; experience that demonstrates the ability to follow written instructions.

In order to be considered qualified, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal service.
