About the position: This position will be assigned to the 6th Force Support Squadron Community Services Flight Arts & Crafts Center MacDill AFB, FL (AMC).

Requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, crawling under vehicles and working tight spaces. Frequently lifts, handles, and carries parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally move moderately heavy items with assistance or with mechanical devices, including objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds.

Duties

Help

As a working leader, performs the following types of duties: provides day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments; relays instructions from the supervisor for work assignments; gets the work started and sets the work pace; demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance; ensures that worksite materials and tools are available; and ensures that employees follow security, safety and housekeeping rules.

Leads assigned NAF employees to include: issues, receives, and schedules use of equipment, tools and repair/paint stalls for patrons. Uses chit or other parts assignment system for accountability of assigned tools.

Determines type of repair job involved and suggests a variety of tools needed to accomplish the repair. Provides instructions to customers on cleaning processes, soiled rag disposal, sweeping and cleanup of repair or pit stall and removal of excess automotive parts.

Ensures tools turned-in are clean, assesses breakage or damage if any, charging customer for tools according to prescribed price listing. Operates cash register and accounts for cash using established procedures.

Maintains inventory control records of items issued, conducts minor maintenance and repair of tools and equipment. Accounts for condition, inspects tools upon return, bins, stores or replaces item with new. Arranges tools and parts as stock is replenished or added.

Develops display pegboards, cleans and grinds tools requiring sharp edges. Performs cleanup duties as required. Keeps tools and equipment in good condition by periodic and preventive maintenance. Recommends replacement/repair and/or acquisition of tools and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Ability to lead three or more workers to accomplish tools and parts attendant duties. Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of a wide variety of automotive tools and parts; good workshop practices to include setting up and maintaining a neat, well organized, and secure storage area; inventory procedures and records maintenance. In addition, must have experience working with patrons providing quality customer service. Must be able to follow written and/or oral instruction, make simple mathematical computations and be able to follow cash handling procedures. Ability to frequently lift, handle, and carry parts and equipment weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). Occasionally, move moderately heavy items with assistance or with mechanical devices, including objects weighing up to or over 23 kilograms (50 pounds).


Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
