Clarification from the agency

Open to US Citizens and Non-Citizens of a NATO country (except Germany) eligible for employment under US conditions within the local commuting distance of Ansbach, Germany. The surrounding/commuting area is within approximately 100 miles and includes the communities of Vilseck, Hohenfels, Stuttgart and Grafenwohr.

Duties

Help
  • Plans, schedules, organizes and implements outdoor activities. Activities include but are not limited to cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, skeet shooting, parks, ranges, mountain climbing and overnight recreational trips.
  • Demonstrates techniques and instructs participants in the use of equipment. Coordinates with installation, county, and state officials on programs and information related to outdoor recreation and required licenses.
  • Researches, plans and develops or enlarges outdoor recreation areas. Prepares standard operating procedures. May assist in the preparation and development of the annual operating budget and 5-Year Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Schedule may include irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends. Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors.

Qualifications

Experience or a combination of experience and education that provided the knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation programs and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups.

Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation; or special population recreation is qualifying experience.

Highly Preferred criteria:
Ability to obtain a Class 2 or 3 license (B, BE, D or DE) to drive vehicles and vehicles with trailers.
Possess certifications or experience leading groups in outdoor recreation activities such as climbing, kayaking, canoeing, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, archery, paintball, cycling, and bicycle maintenance.
