Duties

Help
  • Clean dish room, pot and pan room and other common usage areas within Nutrition Care.
  • Clean food service equipment such as ice makers, salad bars, refrigerators, food service tables, microwave, etc.
  • Wash all dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other wares using a large conveyor flight-type dish machine and a pots-and pans machine.
  • Pre-portion certain items for cafeteria lines such as desserts, some meal accompaniments, and serve some items on the lines insuring the correct portion size in a cafeteria style manner.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position is designated as Mission Essential. Incumbent will be required to insure continuity of Tripler Army Medical Center's operations during ALL hazards emergency situations.
  • This position requires successful completion of pre-placement and annual medical examinations.
  • This position works on an alternate work schedule. The incumbent will be assigned to rotating shifts between 0530-1400 and 1100-1930 hours, seven days a week, to include evenings, holidays, weekends, and early and late shifts.
  • This position may require overtime work.
  • This position requires immunization screening.
  • This position may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) FOOD SERVICE WORKER ~ without more than normal supervision. Performing common tasks such as assembling supplies and/or products in accordance with established procedures and following instructions to set up equipment properly. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Work involves light and heavy physical effort such as frequently lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds, such as food, food supplies, garbage/trash, and occasionally the weights may exceed that amount. Work involves constant walking, standing, and frequent stooping and bending.
  • Working Conditions: Work areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy, e.g., noisy kitchen and dishwashing areas. Worker is exposed to the danger of minor cuts, bruises, and burns from equipment. There is danger of slipping on floors, which are wet from daily mopping or where food or beverages have been spilled. Worker is exposed to steam hot water, and extreme hot/cold temperatures.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
