Help

The Housekeeping Aid Leader will work under the direction of the Housekeeping Aid Supervisor and ensure that the Cheyenne Medical Center provides a clean physical environment free of hazards for all patients, staff, and visitors. When not leading, the incumbent will perform general housekeeping duties within Environmental Management Service Line. Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Performing duties of furniture moving and sanitation projects as assigned
  • Ensuring that assignments are completed per instructions of Housekeeping Aid Supervisor or the Hospital Housekeeping Officer (Chief, EMS)
  • Explaining methodology, policies, procedures, and written instructions to workers/employees in the crew
  • Answering any questions pertaining to procedures, methods, etc. and demonstrates the proper use of
  • accomplishment
  • Dust/wet mopping, trash collection and disposal, cleaning trash receptacles, cleaning and disinfecting toilets, showers and bathrooms, fixtures
  • Refilling toilet tissue, paper towel and soap dispensers; dusting and washing walls, light fixtures, windows, glass doors, elevators, stairwells and partitions. Dusting, washing, and polishing furniture in lobbies, dayrooms, conference rooms and offices
  • Stripping and refinishing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets as assigned
  • Assuring equipment, supplies, and materials are available for completion of assigned tasks and ensuring all equipment operation (done safely)
  • Keeping housekeeping equipment clean and in good operating condition
  • Housekeeping closets assured to be kept clean and orderly
  • Assisting in clean linen distribution and soiled linen collection and terminal cleaning of patient rooms periodically
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Work Schedule: 5 days a week including weekends and holidays; 1st shift, 2nd shift and 3rd shift are available. Shifts may change to meet the need of the Agency.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Considerable physical effort is exerted such as lifting, bending, stooping, climbing, removing trash, soiled linen, mopping, etc. Frequent lifting or moving objects up to 40 pounds and occasionally objects over 50 pounds. May be required to move heavy furniture and equipment. Care is required to avoid serious injuries when lifting or using heavy equipment. Work performed requires continuous walking when inspections or leading tasks in various areas. Exposed to certain occupational hazards, communicable disease and psychiatric patients. Subject to inclement weather conditions when removing trash to dumpsters or loading soiled linen. Working in areas which may cause skin irritation or chapped hands. Mostly works indoors in adequately hearted, lighted and ventilated areas. Work done outside may be hot, damp, cold, drafty or poorly lighted. Incumbent must be able to work under pressure, exercise flexibility in changing one type of work to another with only short notice and to meet emergencies and deadlines without undue interruption of routine. May be required any established tour of duty as deemed necessary for the function of the operation.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
