Duties

Help
  • Duties may include but are not limited to: Types material from rough draft into final form using specialized terminology for technical and administrative reports, staff papers, potential legal documents, letters and similar paper work.
  • Assures correct punctuation, capitalization, spelling, grammar and proper placement and arrangement of all typed material including complicated tabular and non-narrative material to conform with complex format requirements.
  • Prepares all work in final form except when intermediate rough draft is requested by the originator for further consideration or for revision of content, wording, styling or other matters.
  • Assignments require use of varied and advanced software functions to prepare a wide range of documentation (e.g., memorandums, reports, technical papers, graphics, spreadsheets, manuals, and other documents.
  • Answers the telephone and/or greets visitors to the office. Refers callers to the specialists or take messages and answer routine general inquiries. Makes appointments as required.
  • Maintains a variety of files involving office subject headings according to EEOC's filing system. Refers to technical dictionaries, textbooks, research reports, or similar material as reference tools to facilitate assignments.

Qualifications

For the GS-5: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include (a) experience operating word processing and database management software and (b) experience with maintaining a filing system for office records/files; and (c) experience using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material.

OR Four (4) years of education above high school is fully qualifying in lieu of experience.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.
